The First Prototype of the E-Active App Was Exhibited at the 13th Interdisciplinary Conference on Aging and Social Change in Italy

From September 13-15 September, the 13th Interdisciplinary Conference on aging and social change took place in Ancona, Italy.

Almost a hundred researchers from the continents of Asia, America, Africa and Europe attended the conference with the purpose of sharing their most recent research in the field of active and healthy aging.

Sandra Martínez, representing the Polibienestar Research Institute of the University of Valencia, presented the innovative European project funded by the Erasmus “e-Active” program in the open session on Social Change.

E-Active is a pioneering project that aims to promote the active aging of people over 60 years of age in their community through a free mobile application that is easy to access and use. This application has been developed by a multidisciplinary team from five countries, Spain, Italy, Poland, Greece, and Bulgaria, who have taken older people’s needs, interests and abilities as a starting point.

The design presented at the conference considers a catalogue of in-person and online activities. In it, older people can find various activities such as physical exercises, cognitive stimulation and leisure, both in person organized in their community and online through the app for those who, due to physical or time impediments, cannot travel.

In the project’s next phase, the prototype will be tested with 30 older people from Italy, Poland, and Bulgaria. The results obtained in the testing phase will serve to redefine the activities of the application, as well as its structure and design, so that our elderly enjoy a greater state of health and quality of life.

The application and all products developed within the framework of the e-Active project are freely accessible and available on our project website.
